Telefonica to invest €10bn in Latin America

LONDON, June 7 (newratings.com) – Telefonica SA (TNE5.ETR) Thursday announced that it was planning to invest over €10 billion in the Latin American markets over the next two-and-a-half years through 2009.

The Spanish telecommunication company said it was "optimistic" about the outlook for that region, where more than half of its 200 million clients reside.

Telefonica has already invested €75 billion in 14 countries of that region, of which over €2.2 billion were invested in the past year alone.
